Connect HiHello to any MCP client
Set up HiHello yourself in Claude Code, VS Code, Cursor or any other tool that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI assistants use to connect to apps.
Connection details
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server URL | https://mcp.hihello.com/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP (remote). No local install. |
| Authentication | OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. Clients register themselves automatically (dynamic client registration), so there's no client ID, secret or API key to copy. |
| Permissions | Read-only: cards:read, analytics:read, events:read, qr:read |
| Who can connect | Anyone with a HiHello account for their personal data. Organization data requires owner or admin. |
Available tools
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
get_card_analytics | Views, saves and contact adds as totals and a time series, broken down by channel (email signature, Apple Wallet, virtual background, widget, QR code) |
search_cards | Cards matching a card name, person or title, with IDs and short summaries |
get_card | One card's person, contact fields, public URL, template and status |
list_events | Events with dates, linked cards and event analytics |
list_org_qr_codes | Every card's name, title, email, public URL and QR code image. Needs both qr:read and cards:read |
Claude Code

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette:
{
"servers": {
"hihello": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.hihello.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Click Start above the server entry, then sign in to HiHello when prompted. Use Copilot Chat in Agent mode to call HiHello tools.

Cursor
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json for one project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"hihello": {
"url": "https://mcp.hihello.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Open Cursor Settings > MCP and click Login next to HiHello.

Clients that only support local servers
Some older clients can only start a local command. Bridge to HiHello with mcp-remote (requires Node.js):
{
"mcpServers": {
"hihello": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.hihello.com/mcp"]
}
}
}
A browser window opens the first time so you can sign in.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your company doesn't appear when choosing an account | Only HiHello owners and admins can connect an organization. Ask an admin to connect it, or to change your role. |
| The client asks for a client ID or API key | Leave them blank and choose OAuth. If the client requires a value, it doesn't support dynamic client registration; use mcp-remote above. |
| Sign-in works, then tools fail after a while | HiHello access tokens last 15 minutes and refresh automatically. If your client doesn't refresh tokens, disconnect and reconnect. |
| "Method not allowed" or a 405 error | Your client is trying SSE. Set the transport to HTTP (sometimes called "streamable HTTP"). |
| The assistant tries to edit a card | The connection is read-only, so edits fail. |
Revoke access
Remove HiHello from your client to disconnect it.
Questions or a client that won't connect? Email support@hihello.com with the client name and version, and we'll help you get it working.
